Yetenaweg and EMSA collaborative project

Background:

There are many identified gaps within Career and Professional development for medical students and Junior doctors in Ethiopia, one of them being a lack of capacity building in core technical and management competencies. Discussion and guiding future health leaders have become a necessity, now, more than ever. Sadly, Medical Education is unprepared for this task. The curriculum itself is still archaic, and unable to adapt to new and integrated concepts that will allow for teaching the above-mentioned core competencies required to produce leaders who build robust health systems.

EMSA has taken the initiative to start discussions with professionals that can share experiences in relevant concepts that may not necessarily be taught in classrooms, but are vital to their role as future health workforce and National/International Global Health Leaders.

The Ethiopian Medical Students Association (EMSA), in partnership with Yetenaweg, presents a series of webinars on the topic Career and professional development

Format:

This will be a series of online webinars hosted on the Zoom platform. It would ideally involve a “personal profile” segment where invited guests will share their Medical and/or global Health journey. This segment is meant to share experience and discuss future possibilities of medical students and junior doctors, and inspire participants. After which there will be a few (2) Q & A sessions. Then, the invited guest will give a presentation on a key career development, on how to navigate career path and other relevant topics. Q&A
