Dr Azeb Asaminew is a Psychiatrist who is the recipient of Ethiopian Medical Assocoation’s Young Physician Merit Award of 2020. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences and leads the Mental Health and Psycho-social Suppport Team at the Professionals Advisory Council for COVID-19 that provides support to the Federal Ministry of Health. She worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in Debre Markos University for 3 years as the only Psychiatrist in Debre Markos Referral Hospital which serves 5 million people.
She is an alumni of the Ethiopian Medical Students’ Association where she served in founding and editing ‘What’s up Hakim’ magazine and an Executive Board member. She is also one of the founding members of MED (Mandela Ethiopia Doctors) a group formed by Physicians of Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni of 2018.
She serves as an Executive Board Member and Public Relation Chair in the Ethiopian Medical Women’s Association and works as a Public Relations officer in the Ethiopian Psychiatric Association.
Dr Tinsae Alemayehu is one of two pediatric infectious diseases specialists practicing in Ethiopia. He spent 5 years at the Addis Ababa University medical school as an Asst. Prof of Pediatrics. He now does clinical consultations at American Medical Center for infectious diseases and travel medicine in Addis Ababa. He’s also an adjunct professor at St. Paul’s Hospital and Millennium Medical College. He has published 21 researches in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Amir Sultan is a Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist; Assistant Professor of Medicine at Addis Ababa University. He served as the President for the Ethiopian Society of Internal Medicine from 2016- 2018, Executive committee member for The Ethiopian Gastroenteroogy Association for the year 2015 – 2019 and has been working as the Director for the World Gastroenterology Training Center, Addis Ababa since 2017. He has published a research in areas of Viral hepatitis, Hepatocellular Carcinoma and colon cancer.
He is a member of the Ethiopian Medical Association, Ethiopian Society of Internal Medicine, Ethiopian Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
Dr. Bezaye Abebe is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrologist in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, AAU. She is involved in clinical researches and has won several grants; The International Society of Nephrology, Clinical Research Program grant recipient of 2018, and the AAU medical education partnership initiative (MEPI) junior faculty research training fellowship program of 2019. She has led successful national and international collaboration with St. Paul millennium medical college hospital from 2015 – 2017 and Montreal Children’s Hospital and St. John National Academy of Health Sciences from 2014- 20219.
She is currently working as the board of Ethiopian Kidney Association and also working as an Executive Committee. She is the deputy head of the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health.
Solomon Worku Beza (MD, IMPH, Fellow Med. Edu, Dip Pharm)
Solomon Worku is a graduate of medicine, master’s in international public health and fellow of medical education with 19 years of experience. He has contributed in areas of health system, practice, research, teaching and training on drugs, reproductive health, health profession education, modern and traditional medicine.
He was the dean at the faculty of medicine at School of Medicine Jimma University. Recently, he served as medical education director at the Center for International Reproductive Health Training at the University of Michigan.
Currently, he is a senior adviser for the Ministry of Health – human resource for health directorate on issues related to health work force education and training. He is also an adjunct professor at Jimma University and teaches master health profession education. He also advises the Ethiopian medical association on quality of medical education.
